Golley’s Week That Was #40

We went to the 20th annual WJEC Innovation Awards

The Innovation Awards is a prestigious competition celebrating the best project work of students working towards GCSE, AS and A Level qualifications in Design and Technology. We’re helping promote the awards again this year, so we went down to the Senedd to see some of the inventions, watch the ceremony and set up broadcast interviews with some of the winners. This year the winning inventions included a rowing warm-up machine, ‘festival friend’ camping equipment to keep valuables safe at festivals and a hedgehog house designed to look like a hobbit house.

It’s been a busy week for the Seren Network team

The Seren Network held their annual conference this week which saw 1,400 students, 100 professionals and 50 speakers getting involved. We took over the Seren Network social accounts to bring live updates to people following the conference. We spoke to those attending about their top tips for getting into the top unis across the UK and abroad.

You can see the highlights over on the Seren Network social channels here:

Royal Mail delivers a talk…

Sarah and Claire from the Royal Mail came in to update us on the latest VAS software and programmatic mailing.

We looked at the differences between using mail and email, and which is most effective. Considering 88% of UK adults are online, most would assume email has taken over mail these days, but we were surprised to hear that it hasn’t!

We love learning about these things to see how it affects us as a company and helps us ensure that we have a maximum impact with consumers both online and offline.

And here’s the Golleys Goss..

We’ve begun the countdown to Christmas and the office has transformed into Santa’s Grotto.

Also one lucky member of the creative team received a lovely advent calendar from Chief. We’re loving everyone spreading the Christmas cheer!
