Golley’s Week That Was #39

Our regular round-up of what’s been going on in the Golley Slater Cardiff office over the last seven days.

We attended Careers Wales’ first Valued Partner awards

Careers Wales held its first Valued Partners awards, celebrating the businesses in Wales that have helped school pupils prepare for their future careers.

Twenty-two companies picked up gold awards, nineteen companies won silver and thirteen companies took home a bronze award. Congratulations to all the winners!

Keep your eyes peeled for more information on the winners.

We invited businesses in Wales to talk about older workers.

This week we headed down to the Cardiff and Vale College to talk older workers. We organised a roundtable discussion with Wales Business Insider to find out if businesses across Wales are embracing older workers within the business. We spoke with both large and small businesses including Admiral, Thomas Carroll, SA Brain and Glamorgan Telecom and across the board it was clear that older workers are seen as fundamental if businesses are to ensure the continued prosperity of their own enterprise as well as the Welsh economy.

We got in the Christmas spirit with a Chris-piration session

Elin led us a round up of the Christmas adverts released this year, and we voted on our favourites.

The overwhelming top pick? Sainsbury’s and The Big Night

Lizzy Roberts from Creative Comms had a breakfast with a view.

Hugh James runs employment law seminars each quarter and this session’s topics covered everything from mental health and stress in the workplace to the latest updates from court hearings involving major UK companies. Lizzy went along to ensure we’re on top of all the latest developments in employment law.
