From social spending to content creating, find out what was discussed at this year’s PRCA Digital Report

During Cardiff’ Step into Christmas festival, we battled the Christmas crowds and headed to Park Plaza to discuss the PRCA’s Digital PR and Communications Report 2018.

Now in its sixth year, the Digital PR and Communications Report is the leading insight into the digital strengths of the PR and Communications industry, developed by the PRCA and Ginger Research.

The report findings, revealed by Danny Whatmough CMPRCA of Weber Shandwick, showed where the PR and Communications industry’s strengths lie, how brands are responding to digital and what kind of digital marketing help brands are calling for. Here are some of the key learnings from the report:

  • Confidence in measuring ROI of digital PR has fallen below traditional PR
  • Influencer and blogger outreach budgets face the biggest cuts
  • Paid social media gets the most spend
  • PR and comms teams are taking ownership of the social media space

Organ donation consent rates in Wales highest in UK

This week Organ Donation Wales released new data, which shows for the first time that donation consent rates in Wales are highest in the UK.

On 1 December 2015, Wales became the first country in the UK to move to a soft opt-out system of consent to organ donation, meaning t if a person has not registered a decision to become an organ donor (opted in) or a decision not to become an organ donor (opted out), they will be considered as having no objection to being an organ donor – this is known as deemed consent.

To amplify this on social media we released a case study video of transplant surgeon Mike Stephens, who explains from his point of view why it’s so important to #TalkAboutOrganDonation with your loved ones.

Treated for social media and published across the organ donation social channels, the video has generated shares and views from numerous stakeholders,  helping to spread the message to as many people as possible.

Talking trends with Mintel

Elin, our Junior Planner, went along to Mintel’s Big Conversation a couple of weeks ago, where they talked about  the six big consumer trends to shape the industry in the next year. She shared them with the rest of the agency this week, covering the trends and what they mean for us and the work we do.

Elin also advised how each trend might grow and develop in future. The trends were all really interesting and relevant and we’ll definitely keep them in mind for any of our upcoming projects!

We went back to school to help out client Seren Network

Over the last couple of days, our strategy and insights team has been out and about meeting school students in Cardiff.

They visited Ysgol Gyfun Glantaf and Llanishen Comprehensive to talk to pupils about their experience of the Seren Network and get their feedback on some early creative concepts. It was lovely to meet such engaged and enthusiastic students. More to come on the creative ideas….
