Our regular round-up of what’s been going on in the Golley Slater Cardiff office over the last seven days.
Last Monday the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Sport Lord Dafydd Elis-Thomas joined with Visit Wales to launch the official theme for 2018 – Year of the Sea. We have been responsible for the media buying for the TV ad, which features Luke Evans, and will break for the first time during the Christmas Day special of GBBO on Channel 4, and the Victoria Christmas Special on ITV. Every month, as many of our team as possible gather in the boardroom for an ‘inspiration session’ – a chance to share and discuss some of the best creative work we’ve seen from around the world in the previous few weeks. At December’s session we gathered with mince pies in hand to analyse the Christmas ads of 2017. We’d already made a good start on the blog earlier this month, but the idea of this session was to look at how each one had performed since being released, and there were a few surprises!
We looked at the ‘social buzz’ around each of the ads as well as their persuasiveness and level of impact; Aldi’s sequel to the ‘Kevin the carrot’ story performed well across all categories and was definitely one of the favourites here in the Golley Slater Cardiff office.
The final job of 2017 was to post our Golley Slater Cardiff Christmas cards to clients, colleagues and friends. Coming up with an idea for the company Christmas card is never easy, but this year things came together quite nicely thanks to a simple (and heartfelt) nod to popular festive culture. We’d love to see where you decide to hang your decoration – let us know by tweeting a picture with the hashtag #GolleyXmasHeart.
And that’s a wrap! Have a wonderful Christmas and we look forward to catching up with everyone again in the new year.
