Golley’s week that was #39

Our regular round-up of what’s been going on in the Golley Slater Cardiff office over the last seven days.

#1 We captured some video content at Wales’ largest careers event

This week we travelled to sunny Llandudno to capture what was happening at SkillsCymru, Wales’ largest careers event, on behalf of our client Welsh Government. We spoke to parents who wanted to know what different routes are available to their children, to school pupils who were unsure of what their next steps would be, and to exhibitors showcasing what their professions and sectors have to offer.

The skills on show ranged from social care and baking to beatboxing and plumbing, providing invaluable information for the next generation. At the event, we also got to see the Snapchat filters we created in action, featuring an illustration of Llandudno Bay, and its famous pier and seaside cable car.

#2 We talked bras and bakes at St Joseph’s Hospital

We went along to the first ‘Cupcakes and Cupsizes’ event hosted by our client, St Joseph’s Hospital in Newport. The event will be happening every Wednesday in October to mark Breast Cancer Awareness month – click here to find out more.

Attendees had the opportunity to meet the hospital’s BreastCare team, learning about the importance of taking care of your breasts and how to self-check, as well as receiving a personalised bra fitting with Marks & Spencer. We were on hand to help our photographer snap some pictures, and sample some cupcakes too – all for a good cause, of course!

#3 We learned some new ways to pitch-perfect

This week we gathered in our boardroom to take part in a webinar about creating the perfect pitch, where we learned more about using new techniques based on expert research to win clients. Although we have many practiced hands here, it’s always good to take stock of our business processes and look at something from a different perspective – it helps to keep our creative juices flowing.

#4 We welcomed a new team member

We’d like to welcome Tom to the Golleys team as our new junior designer! After graduating from Cardiff Metropolitan University in Graphic Communication, he completed a three month internship with us and has shown his skills across a range of different areas, from shooting with our production team to assisting on client campaigns. Keep your eyes peeled for Tom’s blog and his experience of being an intern. For now, check out the road trip he took with our production team below:
