Golley’s week that was #38

Our regular round-up of what’s been going on in the Golley Slater Cardiff office over the last seven days.

#1 We took part in the world’s biggest coffee morning

This Thursday we took part in Macmillan’s coffee morning, the biggest fundraiser for people facing cancer; we joined the nationwide event and held our very own bake-off! Just some of the delicious entries included ‘Catherine Zeta-Scones’ and a ‘John Lemon Drizzle’ cake but it was our PR account exec, Caroline, who took first place with her ‘The Way You Mocha Me Feel’ coffee cake. In total, the team raised £260.40 for a great cause and we celebrated the only way we knew how – with more cake!

#2 Our work views got a little more interesting

We’ve been out and about photographing healthcare professionals again, to showcase the unique work-life balance on offer here in Wales. This week we were lucky enough to come across some beautiful Welsh scenery, like this beach in the Gower which has been named one of the world’s top ten. Keep an eye out for the final images in the next GP recruitment campaign.

#3 We held a strategy session with Wales’ largest commercial property agents

Earlier this week, two of our PR team delivered a strategy session to 20 directors and associates at client Cooke and Arkwright – Wales’ largest commercial property agents. One of the key challenges when working with large businesses with multiple departments is ensuring that all parts of a company understand, and are plugged in to, any communications activity. Ensuring information filters through from every facet of the business is key to maximising all PR opportunities, so the session was an opportunity to reflect on this, outline new opportunities for new content and carve out ways of working for the future.

#4 We started counting down to the Hilton Ball

We recently arranged for Evening Standard columnist Amira Hashish to review the “cool, contemporary” Hilton Cardiff hotel – a perfectly timed piece to ramp up our excitement for the Hilton Ball next month! Every year the city-centre hotel opens its doors for a night filled with sequins, cocktails and fine food at their annual black-tie charity fundraiser. Our PR team get dressed to impress, and spend the night being entertained by celebrity guest speakers, auctions and of course, plenty of dancing – all whilst raising funds for the DM Thomas Foundation.
