Our regular round-up of what’s been going on in the Golley Slater Cardiff office over the last seven days.
Our new hire, Gloria Fan, has joined our media planning division, fresh from graduating this summer with a 2:1 in Marketing Management from Cardiff Metropolitan University. The 60+ staff at our Cardiff office already deliver communications campaigns for clients across the UK, blending PR, advertising, branding, media planning, and social media, so Gloria is a welcome addition to the team at a particularly busy time!
As a part of wider activity to position itself as the go-to brand for 4×4 and SUVs, our client Mitsubishi Motors in the UK has spent the last 12 months making a name for itself among rugby audiences. High profile sponsorships of England Rugby and Scottish Rugby, as well as club teams like Edinburgh, Gloucester and Salford have gone a long way, and to further support this, Mitsubishi is about to begin its second year of sponsorship of rugby union on Sky Sports.
We’d had really positive feedback on the ident creative that we produced previously for the partnership, so were briefed to refresh it along the same lines for the upcoming season. This week, after months of planning, a few of the team spent the day on shoot at Gloucester Rugby’s training ground in Hartpury. Joined by elite rugby players, they scripted and filmed the professionals giving groups of amateur players insight on how to become more intelligent rugby players. The idents will be aired on 9th Sept and will run until May 2018.
Our social media team got to enjoy some delicious cocktails and seriously good veggie food at a preview event for this year’s Street Food Cardiff event. This all took place inside a beautiful yurt at Milgi restaurant in Roath, where SFC founder Matt Lawton gave an influential group of Cardiff’s foodies a preview of all the exciting new things happening at the festival this year. Head down to Sophia Gardens to see for yourself from this weekend, and for the next five weeks. To see which traders will be there and when, visit www.street-food-cardiff.com
This week we launched our Superfast Broadband campaign for the Welsh Government in Monmouthshire and Denbighshire. We’ve been working on increasing take-up rates across Wales, and so far, we’ve launched this integrated campaign in 16 of Wales’ 22 council regions. Our activity has also recently been shortlisted for a 2017 CIPR PRide award, so we’ll be keeping our fingers crossed for that!
The six-week campaign period for Monmouthshire and Denbighshire will see us issuing PR stories (like this one), communicating with local press and councils, as well as sharing personal case studies via our digital advertising campaign. From existing photography assets, our social media team has also created a suite of short, shareable videos – like this one shared on Twitter last month.
