Golley’s week that was #22

Our regular round-up of what’s been going on in the Golley Slater Cardiff office over the last seven days.

#1 Our latest piece of social content for Folly Farm went viral

We have been working with Folly Farm since 2013, and since then, the popular family attraction has opened seven new enclosures, including the Penguin Coast, Flamingo Lagoon, Pride of Pembrokeshire and most recently, Kifaru Rhino Reserve. We have managed the PR for the opening of each, resulting in national, regional and broadcast coverage reaching millions of people.

Over the years, we have used calendar hooks such as the anniversary of gay marriage, Christmas and Valentine’s Day to generate coverage even when there is nothing new to announce. Most recently, we have started creating short, shareable videos of their cutest residents for use on social media. Our latest film – featuring Dinky the Valais Blacknose sheep – has had more than 75,000 views so far and more than 50,000 of those were completely organic.

#2 We loved reading the blog posts from the American students we hosted last week

Last week, we welcomed a group of students from Michigan State University to our offices for the day. Every year, students from the Advertising and Communications course complete a whislte-stop tour of the UK, meeting professionals from different sectors of the advertising industry and learning more about how the industry works here in UK. We always make an effort to spend some time with them talking through our latest campaigns, answering their questions, and treating them to a couple of Welsh beers! #3 We celebrated three promotions, and started the search for some new team members

There was lots to celebrate this week, as after lots of hard work on the Mitsubishi account, Anne in our creative team was promoted to Senior Artworker. Meanwhile over in our PR team, Sian was promoted to Associate Director, and Katie D was promoted to Account Manger. Well done, ladies! #4 We teamed up with Creative Cardiff to launch the first in a new series of networking events
